Ovid databases training: Advanced searching and new features

Activity description:

Learn more about getting the most from the databases on the Ovid platform (MEDLINE, Embase, Emcare, PsycInfo, etc.) in this workshop brought to you by the UniSA Library and Ovid’s training team.

The Ovid platform allows users to take advantage of subject headings, natural language and sophisticated search syntax to systematically search databases as part of a reportable, comprehensive search strategy.

Who is it for? 

If you want to learn more about searching databases on the Ovid platform (e.g. MEDLINE, Embase, Emcare, PsycInfo, etc.) and/or are undertaking a review or research project that requires systematic searching of health databases, then this workshop is for you. 

Workshop will cover: 

  • Advanced searching on the Ovid platform e.g.
    • Building searches using the search history
    • Field searching
    • Subject headings 
  • Key features of the primary databases used at UniSA for systematic searches - MEDLINE, Embase, Emcare and PsycInfo 
  • Tools and techniques to facilitate systematic searching, including the Ovid Tools and Resources Portal 
  • New features and training videos/resources
