OER Book Launch: Mental and Physical Health Dimensions
The University of South Australia and Flinders University are pleased to announce the release of a new Open Educational Resource (OER) publication: Mental and Physical Health Dimensions. Authored by Paul Cooper, Raymond Tini, and Alice Standfield, this open textbook has been developed to support students undertaking health-related degrees in Australia.
About the Book
Mental and Physical Health Dimensions takes an evidence-based, interdisciplinary approach to highlight the close relationship between mental and physical health. With a strong Australian focus, it connects theory to real-world practice, ensuring students gain relevant insights for contemporary healthcare settings.
The text is structured into clear, accessible sections that allow flexible learning pathways while encouraging deeper exploration of key concepts. It covers a wide range of critical topics, including:
- Mental health care in Australia
- Mental health promotion
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health and wellbeing
- Regulation of mind, body, and behaviour
- Holistic approaches to wellness
Designed to be both comprehensive and student-friendly, this resource provides practical support for foundational learning as well as ongoing professional development.
